I was handed a motivational / educational / waste of time in the form of a pamphlet on the strategic approach to selling from Stephen Pia at COACH MEdia Monthly. Selling your soul, selling out–you know, selling. There is a part in the pamphlet where the author uses three X’s to mean “substitute relevant information here.” The trouble is, XXX usually doesn’t mean what he intends it to mean in his pamphlet. If it’s not clear to you what I mean, head over to google and type XXX into the search bar.
Here is an excerpt from the pamphlet, demonstrating uncommon usage:
Remember, don’t just show up with a list of questions. Do your homework and make the first question in each category show you’ve done your homework. “I read about the changes in the XXX marketplace, how has that impacted your ability to keep up with this market?” or “I saw on XXX.com that your new product launched last week, how has it been received by the market?”
