maybe you can help
UPDATE: Stephanie is ok.
My girlfriend’s sister Stephanie has been missing for more than a week. She lives in Grants Pass, Ore., and was last seen there Dec. 5. She’s 16. So I’m calling upon you to keep your eyes open! She could be anywhere by now, but people in Oregon and Northern California should be on the double lookout. Washington and Idaho residents might take note too. And anyone, really. We have no idea how (or even if) she is traveling or where she could be by now.
The person she’s suspected to be with is much older than she is and is not necessarily the most upstanding citizen, from what we can gather. It appears at this point that she chose to leave, but no one really knows. We hope she chose to leave.
Obviously her family and everyone who knows her is very anxious to at least know that’s she’s okay–and that she wants to be where ever she is.
[EDITED]
Thanks to everyone who has helped out so far, and thanks in advance to anyone who joins the search party. It is much appreciated.

[…] The blogosphere is on the lookout for Stephanie, a 16 year-old girl who has run away from home with a 21 year-old guy named Josh Franks. At this juncture, it appears that she chose to leave with Franks, but her whereabouts are unknown and as she is a minor, this is taking place as a criminal investigation. At left is a poster with more information. Please call the police if you see either of these folks. […]

Searching for Stephanie…
Has anyone seen Stephanie, so Maryam Scoble asks. Here’s the original entry. There’s a flier after the flip, in both colour and monochrome versions that readers should feel free to take and post, after the flip…….

[…] December has been a record month for the site’s traffic, mostly due to Project Wonderful, but also because of the response to my post about Stephanie Haranczyk, who went missing Dec. 5 and is still nowhere to be found. There have been requests for updates on the status of that search, but we’ve been reluctant to reveal too much publicly because it’s hard enough to find people who don’t want to be found without their knowing exactly what our tactics are. We will definitely sound a general alert when anything major happens. Thanks for the interest, and continue to spread the word for people to be on the lookout! Stephanie’s sister Isabelle has a MySpace blog with slightly more current information (though the flyer in my post is still current enough to pass around and direct people to). […]
