It was Woot.com! And they gained back my loyalty. Even though they didn't next-day air me a replacement, they sent me a brand new camera when the original one I bought was a refurb.

This sounds like a Consumerist story/nightmare. Eff CompUSA!!

It was Woot! that fixed their own mistake and hooked Robert up.

It's too bad that guy got screwed by Circuit City. [oops, edit]...too bad that guy got hosed by CompUSA - I stopped shopping there years ago because of high prices, bait-and-switch advertising, and a bad return policy. Anyway, Robert got hosed byCircuit City, which is why I mention them. The thing to remember about Citrcuit City though, is that all their "clearance" stores are being run by some other company that specializes in shut-downs. Technically Circuit City already sold everything in the store to that company (mostly so bitter employees at those stores won't go on a rampage and steal half the stuff still there).

Regardless, Circuit City has been a bad store service- and price-wise for years. I've never even seen anoyone from Amazon face-to-face, but their customer serice has pulled through several times - once even 2-day shipping a duplicate item to a relative's hotel because UPS (not Amazon) had missed the delivery date listed on their site and the person the gift was for had already left on a holiday trip.

It was CompUSA.

And it's true: Technically, it was a liquidation company. Thing is, as noted in the original post, the customer was at a CompUSA store, had a CompUSA receipt, and was helped by a person wearing a CompUSA uniform.

If CompUSA doesn't want to offer the customer service, they should completely remove themselves from the equation. Another company is ripping people off in their name and they don't seem to care. In my mind that makes them just as responsible.

I have zero love for Circuit City after another camera fiasco there - they completely lost my businiess. And we all know how many circuits I buy a month!
