Yeah, I’m old now. I needed a recovery day in Portland, although I’ve been drinking pretty much constantly since then (a week ago) and I’m still going.

This is all going to end very badly, isn’t it?

Why not take a “vacation” on your vacation! Just head down to 7-11, buy some meth from any one of the 30 people who are offering it, go home and put on some ENYA and eat* that meth!

*or smoke, snort, inject, ??? How do you do meth? Be sure to ask when buying.

Yeah, I totally meant that in a good way, like your mom is fun and young. Not not in an alcoholic way. I think the confusion stems from my inclusion of the word down. I should have just said rockin’ a vodka cran, which is another way of saying “drinking”. Except it alludes to the fact that she’s really one with it. She’s owning it. But rockin’ down sounds like she’s drinking fast… like an alcoholic. Whoopsy daisy. Please clear this up for me, as I’m afraid that she hates me now.

Oh, and Dave: My mom keeps talking about the “rockin’ down a drink” comment like it means she is some sort of alcoholic, but I keep telling her it was actually pretty cool that someone would use that phrasing to refer to the mom of anyone my age, let alone my mom. But now all damn day she says sarcastically, “I’m just rockin’ down this vodka cranberry.” And I’m like, “I heard you the first time you said that, mom, right before breakfast.” Moms!

What both of you said is true. I didn’t have any trouble having fun in Portland, though, so that wasn’t an issue. The biggest problem was I neglected to factor in at least one “recovery day” while I was there, which is just bad planning.

Hang in there, man. Only eight more days… wow, that’s a pretty long time, actually, uh I mean… beer! Besides, hanging out with your parents is pretty fun. Your mom can totally rock the vodka and cranberry’s.
